Our Commitment to Privacy
Voyara is built with privacy at its core. We believe your travel data is deeply personal, and we have designed our app so that your information stays on your devices and in your private iCloud account. We do not sell, share, or monetize your personal data.
In short: Your travel itineraries, documents, and personal information are stored on your device and in your private iCloud container. We cannot access them, and we do not want to.
Information We Collect
Voyara collects minimal data to provide and improve the app experience:
- Anonymous Analytics: We may collect anonymized, aggregated usage statistics (such as which features are used most frequently) to improve the app. This data cannot be used to identify you.
- Crash Reports: If you opt in, anonymous crash reports may be sent to help us diagnose and fix bugs. These do not contain personal information.
- Subscription Status: Your subscription status is managed entirely by Apple through StoreKit. We receive only a transaction receipt to verify your subscription; we do not see your Apple ID or payment details.
Information We Do Not Collect
We want to be explicit about what we do not collect:
- We do not collect your name, email address, or any personally identifiable information (PII).
- We do not collect or transmit your travel itineraries, trip details, or booking confirmations.
- We do not collect your location data.
- We do not use advertising trackers or third-party analytics SDKs that track you across apps.
On-Device Data Processing
Voyara performs all data processing on your device:
- Email Parsing: When you import travel confirmations, all parsing and extraction happens entirely on your device. Email content is never sent to any server.
- QR and Boarding Pass Scanning: All scanning and data extraction occurs locally on your device using Apple's Vision framework.
- PDF Extraction: Travel documents are processed on-device. PDFs and their contents are never uploaded.
Data Storage
All your travel data is stored using Apple's SwiftData framework on your device. If you enable iCloud sync, your data is stored in your private iCloud container, which is encrypted and accessible only to you. Voyara's developers cannot access your iCloud container.
- Travel Itineraries: Stored on-device and in your private iCloud container.
- Documents and Boarding Passes: Stored on-device and in your private iCloud container.
- OAuth Tokens: Any authentication tokens (e.g., for email import) are stored securely in the iOS Keychain, which is encrypted at the hardware level.
- App Preferences: Stored locally on your device using UserDefaults.
Third-Party Services
Voyara integrates with the following Apple services, each governed by Apple's own privacy policies:
- Apple WeatherKit: Used to display weather forecasts for your destinations. Location queries are sent to Apple's weather service.
- Apple CloudKit: Used for private iCloud sync of your data. All data is stored in your private container.
- Apple MapKit: Used to display maps of your trip destinations. Map tile requests are handled by Apple.
- Apple StoreKit: Used to manage in-app subscriptions. All payment processing is handled by Apple.
We do not integrate any third-party advertising, analytics, or tracking services.
Data Retention and Deletion
Since your data is stored on your device and in your private iCloud container, you have full control over it at all times:
- You can delete any trip, document, or piece of data within the app at any time.
- Uninstalling Voyara removes all locally stored data.
- To remove iCloud data, you can delete it from the app before uninstalling, or manage it through your iCloud settings.
- We do not retain any copies of your data on our servers because we never have access to it.
Children's Privacy
Voyara is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. Since we do not collect personal information from any users, this policy applies universally.
GDPR Compliance (European Users)
For users in the European Economic Area (EEA), Voyara complies with the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR):
- Lawful Basis: The minimal anonymous analytics we collect are processed based on our legitimate interest in improving the app. Crash reporting, if enabled, is based on your consent.
- Data Minimization: We collect only the minimum data necessary for app functionality and improvement.
- Right of Access: Since we do not store identifiable data on our servers, there is no personal data for us to provide upon request.
- Right to Deletion: You can delete all your data directly within the app or by uninstalling it.
- Data Portability: Your data is stored in standard formats within your iCloud container and can be exported from the app.
- No Cross-Border Transfers: We do not transfer your personal data to any servers, domestic or international.
CCPA Compliance (California Users)
For users in California, Voyara complies with the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA):
- Right to Know: We have disclosed all categories of information we collect in this policy. We collect only anonymous analytics data.
- Right to Delete: You can delete all your data within the app at any time.
- Right to Opt-Out: We do not sell your personal information to third parties. There is nothing to opt out of.
- Non-Discrimination: We do not discriminate against users who exercise their privacy rights.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we will notify you through the app or by updating the effective date at the top of this page. We encourage you to review this policy periodically.
